Jim Allison confronts cancer, critics with immunotherapy

The San Francisco Chronicle has published a lengthy profile on Jim Allison, who performed much of his breakthrough cancer research in the Cancer Research Laboratory at UC Berkeley. The article describes how immunotherapy, long considered an impractical solution to the problem of cancer, is now one of the most exciting new therapeutic approaches in development at numerous major pharmaceutical companies. Some of the important fundamental research on tumor immunotherapy was done by Jim Allison while he was Director of the Cancer Research Laboratory at UC Berkeley.
